Modest Fashion Trends to Watch in 2025

Modest Fashion Trends to Watch in 2025

It’s often said that a modest girly’s favorite season is fall—when layers become the ultimate canvas for showing off our style. Each year, without fail, new trends emerge, blending timeless classics with fresh updates. While I firmly believe in wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable, I do have a few personal favorites that I’ve been enjoying this season.

Growing up in colder, rainier, and windier weather, I’ve learned that warmth and style are thankfully not mutually exclusive. My current go-to is pairing a basic sweater with thick wide-leg denim jeans and elevating the look with a wool coat. The length of the coat not only keeps me warmer than shorter jackets, but also adds symmetry to the entire outfit. If you live in warmer climates, but still want to layer as best you can, I would recommend a trench coat. They are lighter, but still add warmth for those chilly mornings, and fit just as well as wool coats. If I want something similar but different, I opt for a pea coat. It’s versatile, ending at a modest yet flattering length. Whether I’m running errands in matching sweats and Uggs or heading to the office in trousers and boots, a pea coat effortlessly ties the look together.

Another longtime favorite of mine are neck scarves—whether wool or cotton, light or thick. Scarves are perfect for adding dimension and warmth to an outfit, even if my jacket is fully buttoned. If I leave the coat open, the scarf adds an extra layer of style. Quickly forgotten but undeniably classic, is pashmina scarves. Their beautiful patterns and colors often provide all you need to look effortlessly put together. One interesting trend this year has been wrapping scarves around the head, offering both warmth and a chic touch. I have yet to decide how I feel about this look, but I have seen it being pulled off rather well.

This season, I’ve also embraced off-the-shoulder sweaters, which may seem counterintuitive as a hijabi. Surprisingly, it’s a simple look to achieve. Pairing the sweater with a matching undershirt not only adds a layer of much needed warmth, but also creates a cohesive, modest outfit. I finish the look with a VELA hijab that matches the undershirt, tying everything together. I particularly appreciate how loose-fitting many off-the-shoulder sweaters are—they add a touch of tastefulness while maintaining modesty.

My absolute favorite purchase this fall has been a pair of heeled boots. As someone who does a lot of walking, I prioritized comfort and style. After a few months (yes months) of searching, I went with a three-inch thick-heeled leather ankle boot that’s perfect for fighting the rain and cold weather. This versatile piece pairs beautifully with everything—jeans, trousers, dresses, and even wide-leg sweats.

One trend that’s been a hit this season (and one I have continued to embrace since last year) is the Canadian Tuxedo—or matching denim sets. A fitted long-sleeve denim top paired with matching wide-leg pants is effortlessly beautiful. Matching sets are always so easy to choose, as they take minimal thought but present just the opposite. Dressing the pair up with heeled boots or keeping it casual with sneakers like my ever favorite and classic, Adidas Sambas. Honestly, I don’t see Sambas going out of style anytime soon, and if they do, you’ll find me holding onto every color I own.

Finally–and you may have seen this coming from the top of the page–leopard print! While some predicted it would loose its popularity, I’m thrilled to see it remain a fall staple. Though all shades of red are taking over fall, I love pairing a leopard print hijab with a maroon outfit—it’s a combination that screams fall to me. And if it’s not a maroon sweater or dress, a dark vampy lip paired with a leopard hijab is always where I fall (get it :)
